Jerrie Harvey

Jerrie May Shields Harvey, affectionately known as “Gran”, 79, of Odessa, Texas passed away peacefully from this earth on December 9, 2020 at her home from COVID complications.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Jerrie was born on January 17, 1941 in Monroe, Louisiana and was the oldest of two children of George and May Shields.  In the 1950’s, Jerrie’s family moved to Odessa, Texas.

Jerrie married Edwin Earl Harvey on April 20, 1962 and had three children.  Jerrie was a homemaker and avid bowler; she was involved in the Odessa Women’s Bowling Association for many years as President and the Secretary of several bowling leagues.  She loved her bowling family.  Jerrie was also a Texas Ranger baseball fan and was able to attend the World Series the last time the Rangers played.

Later when her children were older, Jerrie went to work for Cherokee Drilling and then at Patterson for several years before retiring in 2015.

Jerrie was a believer in God and loved reading her bible every day.  She loved doing Meals on Wheels every Thursday.  She loved all of her grand and great grandkids.

Jerrie is preceded in death by her parents, George and May Fields; and daughter, Terrie Harvey.

Jerrie is survived by her son, Eddie Harvey of Odessa, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Jerrie and David Sovil of Odessa, TX; grandchildren, Natalie Guara, Justin Sovil, Matthew Lawson, Brian Sovil - all of Odessa, TX, Jamie Damian and Jericho Harvey of Abilene, TX; and 12  great grandchildren.

Jerrie will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
