Jerry Don Harris, 69, of Gardendale, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas
Visitation will be between 6:00-8:00pm, February 2, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Odessa with Terry Tamplen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Odessa.
Jerry Don Harris was born in Lamesa, TX to Edward and Grace Harris on January 19, 1948. He went to school in Rankin, TX. He married Glenda Jones on June 4, 1993 in Odessa. He worked in the Permian Basin oil field for approximately 45 years from pushing crews and pumping to ending his career at Permian Trucking & Rentals. Jerry loved riding motorcycles and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved his music! He starting playing oldies rock and outlaw country music during his high school years with his brothers, James and Bill, and many friends, including Larry and Judy Dominey. His two sons, Bryan and Chris, followed his footsteps and they started a band called, The Sensations, with Jerry. He also taught his granddaughter, Lauren Harris, how to play the guitar. Jerry's hobbies were to spend time with the grands and great grands and listen to Merle, Hank, Willie and Waylon and many others.
Jerry Harris is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Grace Harris.
Jerry is survived by: his wife Glenda Harris; Children- Bryan Harris and his wife Lisa, Malinda Clanton and her husband Tracy, Chris Harris and his wife Karla, Angela Harris, Stephanie Moran and her husband Jay, Cristi Simmons and her husband Irvin, James Chastain and his wife Denise; Siblings-James Harris, Gena Taylor, Bill Harris; Grandchildren- Ashley, Bryan Jr., Brandon, Jerry, Heather, Bradley, Amanda, Emily, Chelynne, Mason, Cameron, Lauren, Jaycee, Erin, Jaidyn, CJ, Lindsey, Claryssa, Sammy, Kylah, Mason, Garrett, Jayden and Pailey; 9 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Pallbearers will be Jerrys' sons, Bryan Harris, Chris Harris, James Chastain, sons in law, Tracy Clanton, Jay Moran, Irvin Simmons and grandson, Bradley Clanton.
Memorials may be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Jerry.
