Jerry Lanning

Jerry Alan Lanning, 68, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 14th, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas.

Visitation services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Thursday, May 18th, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8;00 PM, Family and friends are invited to join.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 19th, 2023, at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Roossinck officiating. Arrangements and services will be provided by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Jerry was born in Artesia, New Mexico, to John and Kassie Lanning on October 13th, 1954. He graduated from Artesia High School and Texas Technical Institute. He was a volunteer firefighter at the Atoka Fire Department. He worked on the Lanning Farms, New Mexico, which was a family farming operation, from July 1977 – January 2001. In February 2001 he moved to Andrews, Texas and was currently working for Stallion Oilfield Services as a Trucking Supervisor and he made a positive impact on everyone at work, or at home. He Married Debbie (Wells) Lanning on November 4th, 2005, in Odessa, Texas.

He loved spending his time riding motorcycles attending bike rallies, he enjoyed arrowhead hunting, shooting pool, fishing, photography, drawing, playing foosball and spending time with his family and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Wesley Lanning; and his father, John Lanning.

Jerry Is survived by his wife, Debbie Lanning; his children, Justin Lanning and Charlie Nelms, Laura Lanning,  Kyla and Jeremiah Blakey; his bonus children, Brian and Amanda Mallory and Nikki Loya; his mother, Kassie Lanning; brothers, Rick Lanning and wife Cindy, and David Lanning and his wife Beverly; grandchildren, Jace Lanning, Tessa Matthews, Charlie Lanning, Bobby Crouch, Devan Crouch, Derik Grantham; great grandchildren, Avianna Carbajal, Annnsyn Nutt, Carmen Hudson, and Amillah Crouch; his bonus grandchildren, Hunter Mallory, Madison Mallory, Averi Mallory, Cannon Robinson, Kirry Mallory, Issac Loya, Bella Loya and Jacob Loya. He is also survived by his bonus brothers and sisters, Kenneth and Terry Casey, Bobby and Lisa Wells, Cheryl and Mikey Thompson.
