Jerry Don Tyler, age 68, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, in Odessa, TX.
He was born November 10, 1956, to Tom and Mary Tyler. On December 31, 1977, he married Debbie D. Tyler. Their eternal love led them to 44 years of marriage. Jerry may not have been a perfect man but will always be our Superhero.
The legacy he leaves behind is his arduous work ethic and ability to provide for his family. He spent many nights away working to ensure his wife could be in their home raising their children. Jerry loved many things about life, but his soul passion was to keep everyone’s feathers ruffled with his ornery personality and doses of practical jokes; but could not take one. One of the proudest moments of his life was when he became a grandpa, after that his greatest ambition was to spend as much quality time with his grandkids.
In his younger years his hobbies consisted of being an active hunter, coaching youth sports teams: Building and racing his own slot cars and competing in demolition derbies. He also loved participating in a good ole fashioned card or domino game.
Later in life he spent many hours at the north and south side senior citizen centers fellowshipping and enjoying retirement with bingo, loteria and piddling away at little projects.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Tyler; parents, Thomas C. Tyler and Mary A, Tyler; brothers, Johnny L. Tyler, and Tom C. Tyler; and grandson, Liam R. Peevy.
He is survived by his sister, Vicki Reeves; daughters, Stephanie Frady and husband Tommy Frady, and Melissa Peevy; grandchildren, Sayde Peevy, Melody Frady, Hailey Peevy, Hannah Frady, and Elena Frady; and girlfriend Cathy Noble.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, July 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. A burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. To send condolences to the family, please sign his guestbook at www.sunsetodessa.com.
