Jesse Ernest Clark, Jr.of Odessa, Texas, was born in Stonewall, Mississippi on February 3, 1923 to Ovie Marie Gifford Clark and Jesse Ernest Clark, Sr. Jesse went to his Heavenly Reward on July 6, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Caroline Clark, Betty Jean Barr, Ruby Lee Gray and Jaxie Marie Norwood.
He is survived by numerous niece and nephews and their families.
Uncle Jay, as he was known by most of the family, lived in Ft Worth until High School when he moved to Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1942. Jesse worked a while in the oilfields, then took a job at the Midland Air Base overhauling the Norden Bombsights used on bombers in WWII. He loved his job and made good money as well as developing a love for airplanes. He decided to go to college , which surprised everyone he said because I was not a very good student in high school and did not like school. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1951 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He said it was God guiding him. He was employed for nearly forty years with General Dynamics in Ft Worth in System Support as engineer. He worked on numerous planes during his career including the B36 and most recently before retirement the B2 Stealth bomber.
His parents were charter members of Belmont Baptist Church, where Jesse later became a deacon after moving back to Odessa in 1990. Belmont was Jesses home where he actively worshipped God in the best way he knew how, taking pictures and serving in any way that he felt led.
Jesse never married, nor had children of his own. He chose many children as his own through coaching softball, Awana and other programs that he devoted much of his life to. He was an avid photographer and loved to take pictures of friends and family, especially children and flowers. He won several awards for the beautiful pictures that he took. Gardening was another special hobby that he loved to pursue. Jesse enjoyed OLD living as much or more than any other time because of the Sweet friends that he shared his life with.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
