Jessie Blakney

April 16, 1915 — December 18, 2011

Jessie Huitt Blakney, age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Trinity Care Center in Round Rock, Texas.

Jessie was born April 16, 1915, in Corsicana, Texas to the late Arthur and Mary Lee Huitt. Jessie married Robert Lee Blakney on August 1, 1936. He preceded her in death in October, 1987.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Bobbie Lee Fatout, soninlaw Jerry Fatout, grandson Phillip Williams, and granddaughter Sarah Allmond, as well as her brothers and sisters.

Jessie is survived by her daughter Ginger Allmond and her husband Steve of Austin. Her pride and joy, in addition to her daughters, were her grandchildren Marcy Williams of San Antonio, Leslie Wilson of De Leon, Chad Johnson of Granbury, and Brian Allmond of Austin, as well as her great grandchildren Morgan Williams, Brent and Robert Johnson, Adrianne Ullman and Myra Wilson.

Jessie was a longtime resident of Odessa where she was active with the Ladies Auxiliary at Medical Center Hospital. She was a lifetime member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs where she held every office and served on every committee possible. She was a proud member of Highland United MethodistChurch, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and her Sunday school class. She served bereaved families, assisted with wedding receptions, and even baked bread for communion. She left Odessa in March, 2000, and moved to De Leon to be closer to family. She joined the De Leon United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women and her Sunday school class. She served bereaved families and baked bread for communion.

She loved her family and considered them Gods greatest gift. When she wasnt helping her family, she loved serving others. She believed in staying busy and not having idle hands. When she wasnt serving others, Jessie loved to sew, crochet, and read. Jessie loved life and was active until she had to move into Trinity CareCenter in June, 2010.

A visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, followed by a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardensat 11:00 a.m., officiated by David Weyant.

Jessie was loved by everyone who knew her and she will be deeply missed.

The family requests memorials to be given to Highland United Methodist Church in Odessa, De Leon United Methodist Church in De Leon, the Alzheimers Association, or a charity which is dear to your family.
