JESSIE LEE DUKE, 88

On December 19, 2008 our beloved mother, grandmother great-grandmother, Jessie Lee Duke went home to be with her heavenly father. Jessie was born in Comanche County, Texas on September 25, 1920, to Rufus Claude Dennis Minnie Lee Kirk Dennis. She is the eldest of sisters, Claudie Mae Arends and Myrtle Lorene White. Jessie was raised in Eastland and Comanche Counties and married Eldred Pershing Icy Duke on March 30, 1940. They began their 59 years of married life living in Brownwood, Texas and moved to Odessa in 1951 making Odessa their home. Jessie was a homemaker and worked part-time while her children were young, then worked at Southern Maid Donut Shop for several years until she retired.

Her family and friends remember Jessie as a loving and caring person. Jessies hobbies include sewing, crochet, and crafts. She became a Christian at an early age and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years.

Her parents, her beloved husband, brothers and sisters in law and three nephews preceded her in death.

Jessie is survived by her sons; Billy Jack Duke and wife Rita of Wimberly, TX; Ronnie Lee Duke and wife Shawn, of Richardson, TX; and daughter, Shirley Marie Moore and husband Rickey, of Odessa. She is also survived by grandchildren; Chris Duke, Christina Duke, Nathan Duke, William Duke, Jessica St.Clair, Tamra May, Tonya Smith, Ronnie Duke II, Josh Riles, six great-grandchildren; Justin Duke, Noelani and Sydney St. Clair, Madalynn and Brooklynn May and Brady Smith and her two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will be on Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 5:00 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel located at 6801 East Hwy 80 Odessa, TX.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers at Sienna Care Center and Home Hospice House. Memorials may be made to either organization.

Pallbearers are Chris Duke, Nathan Duke, William Duke, Justin Duke, Jon St. Claire and Royce Moore.
