Joann Carrasco Hocker, 50, formally of Odessa now of Denton passed away Friday, December 11, 2009 in Midland.
She was born December 16, 1958 in Odessa, Texas to Carlos C. Carrasco and Mary Bueno Carrasco. She was a 1977 graduate of Ector High School, and attended Odessa College prior to joining Texas Employment, which later became Texas Workforce Commission. She retired in September 2008 and moved to Dallas in the late 1980s. Later, she moved to Denton in the late 1990s. She married Micheal Hocker in Denton on October 24, 2004. She was active in her church, Glory of Zion, where she worked in child care ministry. She was a devoted mother, being involved with them in their youth and their adulthood.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carlos Carrasco.
Survivors include her husband, Micheal Hocker of Denton; her son, Hugo Almaguer of Denton; her daughters, Dana Franco of Dallas and Debbie Bauman and husband Derek of Santa Clarita, California. Step-children Christopher Hocker of Houston and Kirsten Hocker of New York City; her mother, Mary Carrasco; her sisters, Susie Carrasco and Raquel Rodriquez and husband Robert; her brothers, Ernesto Carrasco and wife Melinda, and Carlos Carrasco all of Odessa.
Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, December 14, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
