Joe Black

Joe Wayne Black, age 81, of Odessa, TX, entered into the presence of the Lord on January 2, 2018 in Odessa.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, January 5, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church at 1101 N. Lee in Odessa with Reverend Todd Starnes, Reverend Paul Thompson and Gayle Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Wayne was born July 4, 1936 to Joe and Myrtle Black in Altus, Oklahoma. He married his high school sweetheart, Vonell Reeves on October 23, 1956 in Sayre, OK. He worked as an Operations Engineer at Huntsman, where he retired from in 1986. Wayne was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church. He served as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon. He was well loved and respected.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and one grandson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Vonell Black; daughter, Judy Price and husband, Lynn Harris; son, Steven Black and his wife, Debra; five grandchildren, Anthony, Twila, Dawn, Scott and Sean; three great grandchildren, Camrie, Kendal and Riverleigh; two brothers, Rodney and Gary Black.
