Joe Burchell

Joe Burchell, age 78, of Gardendale, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Odessa.

He was born October 10, 1932 in Jacksboro, Texas. He went to elementary school in Newport, Texas, and graduated from Bowie High School in Bowie, Texas. He then joined the Navy. After the Navy, he moved to Oregon then to Odessa in 1958, where he worked for General Tire for 33 years.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, telling jokes, gardening and his dogs.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angella McCorkle.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Burchell of Gardendale his daughter, Donna Baker and husband, Garren of Houston their children, David Duckworth, Dake Shields and Ashley Baker his son, Gordon Burchell and wife Lynn of Sonora, Texas their children Peggy Burchell, Jamie Burchell, Josh Burchell, Justin Pennington, Sean Tyler Pennington, and Michael Bell his son, Glen Burchell of Gardendale and children, Krystle Zarate and Kimberly Burchell his stepchildren, Kimberly Coast, Shari Doty, Michelle Evans, Eddie Bowman and Jeff Bowman and six Great Grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Friday, September 16, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Humphries and Emmitt Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dake Shields, David Duckworth, Josh Burchell, Emmitt Bell, Gordon Burchell and Glen Burchell.
