Joe Danny Ebert, a member of the Osage tribe, was born June 15, 1948, in Powell, Wyoming and passed away November 22, 2023, in Big Springs, Texas.
Joe was the much loved fourth son of Conley and Evaline Ebert. Joe was raised in Odessa, Texas and had close ties to the community.
In his teens, Joe attended San Marcos Military Academy. While still in his teens, he joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam war during which he received multiple honors including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
A beloved family member and friend, Joe is survived by his brother, Starr Ebert of Temple, Texas, nephews Price Ebert of Austin, Texas and Craig Ebert of Granbury, Texas, nieces Mendy Hampton of Palmdale, California, Shawna Mason of Julesburg, Colorado, and Abbie Ebert-Pait of Palmdale, California, and many other relatives.
Joe is preceded in death by his brothers Flash Ebert of Odessa, Texas and Gurney Ebert of Ovid, Colorado, as well as his niece, DeShay Ebert, of Odessa, Texas.
Joe is remembered by all as a kind and caring individual who lived for his Christian beliefs, love of family, community, and country, and as someone who faced a lifelong debilitating war wound with great courage. His interment is at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Odessa, Texas, at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
