Joe Hinojos, Sr.

Joe Rios Hinojos, Sr., 63 years of age, departed this life into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 26, 2009, surrounded by his children, after a lengthy illness.

Joe was born February 4, 1946 in Terlingua, Texas. He resided in Odessa before moving to Fort Stockton in 1993 and then to Marfa in 2001 before returning to Odessa in 2006.

He attended school in Odessa and played football at Ector High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

There was not one person that he came across that he did not befriend. He was an outgoing person that always had a smile on his face.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel O. Hinojos and Paula R. Hinojos. He was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista.

He is survived by three sons, Joe R. Hinojos, Jr. of Midland, Michael Hinojos and Keith Hinojos of Odessa; two daughters, Rebecca Hinojos and Christina Hinojos of Odessa; thirteen grandchildren, Jason Yielding, Andrew Hinojos, Melanie Jepson, Vanessa Hinojos, Eric Hinojos, Peanut Hinojos, Melinda Lopez, Jessica Hinojos, Alex Lopez, JuLeisa Hinojos, Paula Lopez, Amber Hinojos, Lynna Hinojos; twelve great grandchildren, many brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Borra and the many caring nurses at the West Texas Cancer Center and Medical Center Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Primera Iglesia Bautista with Brother Robert Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Los Angeles Cemetery in Odessa.

Pallbearers will be Jason Yielding, Andrew Hinojos, Rico Armenta, Eric Hinojos, Carlos Palomores and Alex Lopez.
