Joe Horn

May 20, 1931 — November 18, 2013

Joe Carlton Horn, age 82, passed into Heaven on November 18, 2013 in Odessa, TX. Joe was born on May 20, 1931 to the late Joseph and Lula Horn in Natchitoches, LA. Joe was third of four children and is preceded in death by siblings Elvin Horn and Virgie Roberts.
He is survived by sister, Edna Nash, of Shreveport, LA. Joe joined the Armed Forces in 1948 where he served as a member of Tank Company, 3rd Battalion, 14th Armored Calvary, Germany. He moved to Odessa shortly after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and began what would be a long career in specialized hard metal precision welding
. The reputation of Joes personally owned business, Horns Welding Service, has always been one of integrity and quality. Joes skills with a welding rod went beyond servicing the oilfield as he was also exceptionally keen at creating unique, oneofakind art pieces.
Although Joe has not been physically able to work for nine years, he constantly remembered his days of welding and dreamed often of a return to doing what he loved: welding, creating and fishing.
Joe married, Barbara Hennon Gregory on July 29, 1989. Together, they enjoyed 24 years of love and friendship as they traveled, laughed, and supported one another through thick and thin. Their mutual faith in Jesus Christ is what first brought them together, and up until the time of his death,
Joe was encouraged and strengthened by his faith community of First Baptist Church, Odessa.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, two of his siblings and his grandson, Clinton Dean Boyd, and grandson inlaw, Sean Kilpatrick .
