Joe Melton

Joe R. Melton, age 101, of Odessa, TX, passed away on April 7, 2015 in Odessa.

Joe was born August 13, 1913 to Horace S. and Velma L. Rigney Melton in Leonard, TX. His family moved to Amherst, TX when he was 12 years old. He met and married Nellie B. Long on October 30, 1930. They had two daughters, Joe Nell, who died in childbirth and Jackie Sue. The family moved to Odessa in 1948. Joe retired after working for 25 years at the United States Postal Service as a clerk. He was a quiet man with a winning smile.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Velma Melton; wife, Nellie Melton; two brothers, Jim and Jack Melton and son-in-law, Millard Alexander.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Alexander; granddaughters, Connie Roselander and Susanne Bernhard; two great-granddaughters; two great grandsons and two great great grandsons.

A Memorial Service will be held April 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew Cumberland Church with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating
