Joe Don Taylor, age 84, of Odessa, TX passed away peacefully at his home and entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Kelby Davis of The Bridge and Randy Beard are officiating.

Joe Don was born in Jayton, TX on September 25, 1938, to Flo (Baker) Taylor and Charlie Taylor.  Joe Don graduated from Stamford High School in 1956 and joined the Navy.  He was stationed in the North Atlantic aboard the U.S.S. Battleship New Jersey.  On August 28, 1960, Joe Don married the love of his life, Johnnye Lou (White) Taylor in Anson, TX.  They made their home in Abilene TX until moving to Odessa in 1963.  Joe Don served as service manager for Joe White Lincoln Mercury until opening his own business which was 3-Way Automotive.  Joe could fix anything, and he ran his shop for over 30 years. In his retirement he served as a golf marshall at the Odessa Country Club. Joe volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Permian Band Boosters, Reagan PTA and served as local president of the Texas Independent Automotive Association. He proudly belonged to the Texas Tech Dad’s Association and also held membership in the Masonic and Shriners Lodge.  Since 1965, Joe Don was a dedicated football season ticket holder for Permian High School.  He also was a member of First Baptist Church Odessa and the Senior Adult 3 Sunday School class.

Joe Don is preceded in death and now eternally reunited with his parents, Flo and Charlie Baker; his brother, Bobby Taylor and wife Rose; sister, Betty (Taylor) Ake; infant brother, Larry Dale; brother-in-law, Joe White and wife Doris Ann; brother-in-law, Otis White and wife Potsy; and in-laws, Johnnie & Alpha White.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Johnnye Taylor; daughter, Johnna Taylor Rosson; granddaughter, Taylor and Chance Criswell; great-grandson, Cannon Jaxx Criswell all of Odessa, TX; and numerous cousins and many nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great-great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chance Criswell, David White, Wade White, Kerry Giesler, Kade Giesler, Garret Davis, Johnny Walker and Cannon Criswell-junior.

Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels, Shriners Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
