Joey Dan Fuqua, 84, of Odessa, Texas was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Odessa Regional Medical Center.
A graveside Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Monahans Memorial Cemetery in Monahans, Texas. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Officiating the Memorial Service will be Lynn Money.
Joey Dan Fuqua was born in Milan, Tennessee to Roy Dan and Cleo Catherine Fuqua on December 7, 1937. He was a Baptist. He attended several primary schools throughout Tennessee due to his father’s work in the timber industry. After World War II, his family began moving west and eventually put down roots in Penwell, Texas. He attended Crockett Junior High and graduated from Odessa High School in 1955. He briefly attended Odessa College and eventually joined the United States Army. He served two years active duty and served four years in the reserve. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1966. During that time, he met the love of his life, Linda Kay Kelley. They were married on October 4, 1963, in Odessa, Texas. They started their family and were married for 54 years. He worked for American Petrofina for 28 years retiring as a Production Foreman in 1994. After retirement he enjoyed maintaining his flower beds and caring for his lawn. He also enjoyed woodworking. A few years after retiring the most enjoyable times of his life began as he gained the titles, “Pa Joe” and “Papa.” He loved spoiling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was their teacher and biggest supporter. His greatest joys in life were his wife, children, and all his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Linda Fuqua, his parents Roy and Cleo Fuqua, and his sister Allie Jane Fuqua.
He is survived by his children, Jace Fuqua and wife, Irene of Monahans, Texas, Stacey Fuqua of Odessa, Texas, Jolie Jenkins, and husband, Allen of South Padre Island, Texas, brother Jerry Fuqua of Conroe, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Colton Jenkins and wife, Taylor of Odessa, Texas, Jayden Fuqua and wife, Jettin of San Antonio, Texas, Conlee Carrasco and husband, Adrian of Lubbock, Texas, Cailen Jenkins and fiancé Collin Rome of Odessa, Texas, Marissa Armendariz of Kermit, Texas, Shelby Armendariz of Duncan, Oklahoma, Alexis Armendariz of Monahans, Texas and great-grandchildren Airamay Poor, Raiden Hamill, and one more great-granddaughter on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins along with his precious Poodle, Holly Berry, who he loved dearly.
He will be deeply missed and will forever remain in the hearts of many.
