John L. Brightman, 62, of Odessa, TX, passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, TX, on May 29, 2023. John was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John was born to Tex and Gloria Brightman on March 15, 1961. He was married to the love of his life and best friend, Charlotte. His daughter, Ashley, was born in 1987, and was his world. It was very important to him that Ashley was college educated. John was the absolute best dad.
He worked in the Oil and Gas industry since he was 18. He worked for many years at Campbell Testing Company and Halliburton for 21 years in the Cement Department. He was known for his hard work, dependability, trustworthiness, and kindness. He enjoyed cooking. His favorite things to cook were tacos and fideo. He also loved making homemade ice cream. He enjoyed watching sports and talking about the scores with his brother. He loved the Spurs and going to the games.
He loved the Hill Country and going to San Antonio. He loved jazz and blues music. He loved movies, especially Westerns. One of John's exceptional qualities in life was helping others and feeding the homeless. He had the biggest heart and a gentle nature. He loved dogs and all animals loved him.
John is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his daughter, Ashley; his mother, Gloria Hill and her husband Willie; his brother, Chris Brightman; his sister, Melinda Esquivel and her husband Nick; and several nieces and nephews.
John was baptized at a young age, and we know he is with the Lord. He will be remembered for all the happiness and love he brought to everyone.
