John Caraway, Jr.

John Caraway, Jr., departed this world for his heavenly home on December 18, 2022.

John, also known as Jr or Cash was born to John and Anne Caraway on July 24, 1944, in Plainview, TX. His dad was serving in the Marine Corp when Jr was born and didn’t get to see him until he was two years old. He was promptly taken to the barber shop and had his red curls shaved off while his mother cried.

John met his wife Barbara of nearly 60 years while cutting maize in Taylor, TX. After a short whirlwind courtship, they married in Hale Center, TX on January 8, 1963. While working at Best Fertilizer in Plainview, TX he learned to weld. Thus began a welding career that lasted for 50 years.

Three children were born to John and Barbara, Dana in 1965, Chris in 1966 and Mark in 1969.

John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara, grandson Kyle Singleton and wife Emily with their three children Lucy, Kendra, and Kolby Singleton.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 2:00 PM, on January 8, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made in John’s honor to his favorite charity, the Humane Society of Odessa.
