John Mcbride

November 27, 1926 — December 16, 2014

John Patrick McBride went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 16, 2014.

He was born near Findley, Illinois on November 27, 1926 to John and Edna McBride. As a young man he loved swimming and fishing at the lake at Shelbyville, Illinois. He lettered in football and basketball at Shelbyville High School, graduating in 1945. Sports were always very important to him. He was a lifeguard at city pool each summer. John served in the Army Air Corp. in Italy and Germany from 1945 to 1946. While in Rome, Italy, he had an audience with the Pope and saw the Sistine Chapel, which was not open to the public at that time. John married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Jackie on May 13, 1950. They had a happy marriage for 64 years. He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1951 with a geological degree. He worked for Gulf Oil for many years and retired from Atlantic Richfield. He and Jackie loved the country of Israel and visited there four times and hoped to go again. He was a great husband and father who loved his family with all his heart. He personally taught all of his children to swim and always attended all their school activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna McBride and brother, Thomas Murphy McBride.

John is survived by his wife, Jackie McBride sons, Michael McBride and Terry McBride daughters, Sherri Hout and Julie and Donnie Bollinger sisters, Sharon Wade and Donna Robinson of Shelbyville, Illinois.
He and Jackie lost son Patrick in 2009. They have 10 wonderful grandchildren and 12 great grandkids, which he adored.

A Memorial Service will be held December 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 901 N. Midland, Dr. in Midland.
