John Reyes

John Paul Carrion Reyes, age 37, of Odessa passed away Monday, July 11, 2022, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

The vigil will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 5 PM-7 PM. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM.  Mass services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 612 E 18th St, Odessa, TX 79761, with Fr. Bernardito Getigan officiating. If you would like to join the bike rally, please arrive at Sunset at 9am on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022.

John Paul was born in Odessa, Texas, on August 27, 1984, to Elfleda (Lyd) and Carlos Santos Reyes. John Paul attended St. Mary’s Catholic school, Bowie Junior High, Odessa High School, and Odessa College. He married Esther Reyes in 2008 and was involved in his children's hobbies and his church. He worked in coil tubing in the oil field.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Antonio and Beatriz Carrion, paternal grandmother, Terestia Padilla Santos; uncle, Ferdinand Reyes; aunt, Maria Farr; uncle, Honorato Carrion; aunt, Juliette Petruzzi; uncle, augusto Carrion; uncle, Uldarico Carrion.

He is survived by his two daughters, Janice Nicole Reyes, 23, Jocelynn Victoria Reyes, 9; his ex-wife, Esther Marie Molinar, 38; his parents, Elfleda (Lyd) Reyes, 65, and Carlos Santos Reyes, 65; his brothers, Justin, 36, Joshua, 30, Jeremy 25; and several aunts, uncles, cousins,  godchildren. One niece, Zélie Catherine Reyes, 2; and one nephew, Joseph Augustine Reyes, 6.

Pallbearers will be Ismael Ybarra, Jesse Joe Molinar, Saul Bustamante, Jesse Reyes, Nicolo Placino, and Lyndell Carrion.

The Family of John Paul Reyes wish to extend their sincere thanks to the medical staff at Midland Memorial, the Paramedics and EMS response team of Midland, Texas, and especially Father Rodney White who administered the Last Rite and other clergies, The Daughters of Mary, The Knights of Columbus, Double T Oilfield Services, Pastor and staff of St Mary’s Church, and the numerous friends and family for their support.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorial tributes in John Paul's honor to be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa, Texas, for the continued growth and creation of the new columbarium at St. Mary's.
