John Williams

John K. Williams, 84, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2017, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

Funeral and memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located in Odessa, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park located in Midland, Texas. Both services will be officiated by nephew Mike Griffis of Odessa, Texas.

John was born in Haskell, Texas to Elbert "Shorty" and Lennie Williams on February 2, 1933. He married Jean Griffis on December 16, 1951 in Odessa, Texas. They were married for 65 years. He worked as a machinist for Texas Flange in Odessa, Texas for 16 years. Then, he started his business John's Machine & Manufacturing for 17 years followed by John's Machine & Consulting for 15 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army from 1951- 1954, where he was awarded two Bronze Service Stars. John's passion was flying. He loved to fly his personal plane and made many flights to Haskell, Texas and Rockport, Texas to visit family members.

John is preceded in death by his Parents - Elbert "Shorty" and Lennie Williams. Brothers - Carl Williams, Douglas Williams, and Edwin Williams. Sisters - Alice Briscoe and Deen Lowery.

John is survived by Wife Jean Williams, Brother Tony and wife Charlene Williams of Haskell, Texas, Children - DeDe and husband Daniel Viscarde of Austin, Texas and Kim Putnam of Odessa, Texas, Grandchildren - Justin and wife Kim Gray of Austin, Texas, Chad and wife Lucy Gray of Houston, Texas, J.R. and wife Amy Carey of Flower Mound, Texas, Kris Putnam of Odessa, Texas, and Stephanie Griffis of Spring, Texas. Great Grandchildren - Tristin Gray of Austin, Texas, Seth Gray and David Gray of Houston, Texas, and Johnathon Carey and Alyssa Carey of Flower Mound, Texas.
