Jon David Hubbs

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, Jon David Hubbs at the age of 80 years left his earthly home to be at peace in his forever home. He was the only child of Virgil and Charlotte Hubbs. Born in San Antonio on March 17, 1944. His family moved to Odessa when he was seven years old. He graduated from Permian High School in 1962.

As a young man he worked as a butcher in the meat market in Bill Sears Grocery and Odessa Frozen Meat Market. He met his wife in 1963, Linda Sue Jordan and they were married in 1964. Both were young but made it through with each other’s support and love for 60 years, 11 months and 10 days.

He served his country in the Air Force as an Air Police Officer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Air Force he chose to continue to serve his community by joining the Odessa Police Department. He served with the OPD for 30 years. During his career, he felt pride in his accomplishment of creating the canine division. He was the Sergeant of the unit, through many generous donations from the community and help from the other canine handlers it was created and is still operational today.

Jon is survived by his wife Linda, son William and daughter Sheri.

He is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Charlotte Hubbs.
