Jose Angel Joven Jr., age 89, of Del Rio TX, passed away on September 13, 2023, in Odessa, TX.
Jose (Joe) Angel Joven Jr was born in Del Rio, TX, to Jose Angel Joven Sr. and Narcissa Chacon Joven on September 6,1930. He attended school at Del Rio High School. He married Yolanda G. Joven on November 2, 1953, in Ciudad Acuna Coahuila, Mexico. He established A1 Roofing and Framing in 1972 and retired in 2018. He was involved in many civic and religious organizations: Central Boys and Girls Club of America, Catholic Charities, Los Curcio-esatas de Iglesia San Jose de Odessa, TX, Barrio Lions Club, Woodson Boys Club, and South Side little league baseball.
Jose (Joe) Joven is preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda G. Joven, 2020; father, Jose A. Joven Sr, 1977; mother, Narcissa Joven 1986; brothers, Francisco, Chias, Asvaldo; sisters Shine, Pepa, and Hermina Joven; adopted son, Jasper Dominguez; and grandson Johnny Alexander Miranda.
Joe Joven is survived by son, Fernando Joven and wife, Odelia Joven; daughter, Martha Miranda and husband, Andy Miranda; son, the Honorable Mayor of Odessa Javier Joven and wife, Jo Ann Joven; brothers, Calendario, Rudolf, and Fidencio Joven; sisters, Marta Spencer Joven and Dora Ponce Joven; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Monday, September 18, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Pastors Cliff DeArmond of Hope Alive Church and Pastor Javier Galvan of Father, Son and Holy Spirit Ministries will be officiating. Arrangements are in the care Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
