Jose Leonel Rivera

Jose Leonel Rivera, 27 years old, of Ciudad Juarez, passed away on January 21, 2024, in Odessa TX.

Viewing will be at Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church starting at 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2024, and Friday, January 26, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 8:00PM. The church will be open at 9:00am Saturday, January 27, 2024, morning. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church with Pastor Eddie Humphries and Evangelist Jennifer Meister of Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church, officiating. A burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Garden & Funeral Home. 

Jose was born in Cuidad, Juarez to Nora Zapata on April 28, 1996. He went to school in Midland TX. He was a contracting hotshot driver leased to Longhorn Coating.

Jose is survived by best friend, Eddie Humphries; son, Yzael Leonel Rivera; sisters, Yajaira Cortez and Hailey Zapata; and brother, Jesus Cortez; mother, Nora Zapata and stepfather, Emilio Zapata; and the whole membership of the Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church. Jose Rivera was a Deacon in good standing at the Odessa Gospel Lighthouse Church. 

Jose will be transported on the hotshot trailer that he pulled so many years from the church to the cemetery.  

Pallbearers will be Hugo Alvarez, Jose Vasquez, Angel Ramirez, Jose Tavarez, Daniel Tavarez and Dave Bethune.
