Joy Lane Maddux

September 1, 1934 — March 14, 2025

San Antonio, TX

Joy was born to Robert Lee and Meek Stanford in Cisco, TX on September 01, 1934. She and her family moved to Odessa, TX in 1937. As the youngest, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Stanford, Bessie Peevy, and Bobby Stanford. Joy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her "prides and joys" grandson Bert Maddux and granddaughter Kellie Maddux, as well as her great and great-great-grandchildren.

Joy was a devoted Christian whose faith never wavered. The following are bible verses that Joy regularly recited.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers over the past two months with Gentiva Hospice of San Antonio, TX. Also, thank you to the Sunset Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 11:00AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Clydel Chapman, officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home.
