Joyce Covington

Joyce M. Covington, 87, died in Midland, Texas on January 3, 2022.

Joyce was born May 5, 1934, to Jimmie and Emma Sullivan Weeks in Wood County, Texas. The family moved to Odessa in the late 1940’s where she attended public schools. She enjoyed being a member of the girl’s baseball team at Odessa High School. She was a big supporter of her younger brothers at home and with their school.

Joyce worked in the office supply business first as a clerk and later as a supervisor. She attended Temple Baptist Church when it was located on Texas street for many years. She and her Australian Shepherd, Jackson, became the best of friends and constant companions. She was one that always made herself available to assist anyone anyway she could. She could however draw the line in the sand when needed.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie D. and Emma Elizabeth Sullivan Weeks, and her younger brothers, Bennie, and Jimmie Weeks.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Bradley of Midland; her son, Curtis Covington of Midland. She is also survived by granddaughter, Molly Tucker and her husband Jake, and their child, Zoe of Lubbock.

Graveside services will be 2:30 PM, Friday, January 7, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
