Karen June Weddel, age 63, of Odessa, TX, passed away December 12, 2016 in Houston, TX.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bishop of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
Karen was born August 6, 1953 to Andy and Mary Anderson in Roswell, NM. She attended Roswell High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and active in the band. She went on to attend Eastern New Mexico University to obtain a Bachelor's degree then on to a Master's degree in Education, Magna Cum Laude.
Karen was a Special Education Teacher in Artesia and Odessa for 38 years. She enjoyed all of her students. She was a devoted Christian, she enjoyed her faculty and staff. She devoted her life to God, her family and her students.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Andy Anderson and Mary Anderson; sister, Janet Carr and two nephews.
She is survived by her son, Wes Callaway and wife, Mandy of Odessa, TX; daughter, Chelsey Mellick and husband Andrew of Hope Mills, NC; brother, Earl Anderson and wife, Cherie Anderson of Odessa; sister, Jannika Anderson of Midland, TX; six grandchildren, Trinity Callaway of Midland, TX, Brayden and Mackenzie Callaway of Odessa, Patience, Evan and Rayne Mellick of Hope Mills, North Carolina; nephews, Earl Anderson and wife Jennifer of Odessa, TX, Michael Carr of Odessa, TX and Jonathan Jeter of Roswell, NM and two dogs Roxy and Izzy.
