Kathern Areeda Tucker departed this life on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the age of 81.
Areeda was born in Salem, Arkansas on July 23, 1928 to Weun Garland Ferguson and Rosa Elizabeth Carruthers Ferguson. On June 10, 1945 Areeda and Boyce B. Tucker were united in marriage in Salem. They were married 44 years at the time of his death on December 29, 1989.
She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. A devout Christian lady, Areeda loved everyone unconditionally and would do anything she could to help anyone. She was like a mother and grandmother to her childrens and grandchildrens friends, and she never met a stranger. Mom Tucker loved and cared for all animals that were fortunate enough to find their way to her home. She never refused to care for any of them and put their needs, as well as those of her family, before her own.
Areeda was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Surviving her are her sons and daughtersinlaw, Bernard and Cleone Tucker and Eddie and Connie Tucker, and her daughter Reeda Castillo, all of Odessa, as well as her brother and sisterinlaw, Dick and Snoddy Ferguson of Batesville, Arkansas.
Areeda was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Melissa Tucker, Bernie and Lynda Tucker, Carrie Prewitt, J.R. and Tiffany Tucker, Lacie Castillo and Amya Palmer. She was blessed with nine great grandchildren: Blaine Prewitt, Brianna Prewitt, Emerson Tucker, Hayleigh Whatley, Terra Tucker, Kaden Whatley, Lexus Prewitt, Cadien Castillo and Jevin Tucker.
The family would like to express our appreciation to her loving and caring doctor, Dr. Madhava Agusala,, as well as the nurses in ICU and 5C at Medical Center Hospital for your excellent care of our Mom and compassion for our family during her illness.
Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Don Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Tucker, J.R. Tucker, Terry Browning, Cliff Bloom, Blaine Prewitt, Chris Green and Bob Evans.
