Kathryn Claybrook

October 3, 1946 — December 6, 2018

Kathryn Elyse Claybrook, age 72, of Odessa, TX, passed away on December 6, 2018 in San Antonio, TX

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Kathy was born October 3, 1946 to Jack Peter Claybrook and Ruby Ruth (Niemeyer) Claybrook in Vernon, TX.
Kathy had a quick wit about her. She had a response instantly for any situation whether it was in jest, funny or sarcastic or putting someone in their place. For years she would tell me that on her tombstone the epitaph she wanted was "I told you I was sick." And she would laugh every time she said it. Her favorite flower is Daffodils. Her favorite singer is Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. Her favorite story is "Which wolf will win?" It is an American Indian story.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow, what a ride." Kathy cut that quote out and sent it to me. She also included this scripture: Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

Kathy was a funny character. She was devoted to her family. She would go without to give to her family and friends.

Alexandria was the apple of her eye. She was so proud of her granddaughter and she captured her heart and soul.

She didn't have a high school diploma, yet she worked as a beautician, in a butcher shop, a gas station and then finally ended up going to work in medical records at Medical Center Hospital. Her profession was as a medical records clerk ICD 9 Coder. She was well known in the medical community as an ICD 9 coder that when she would go to conferences and training seminars other companies would try to get her to go to work for them. They would recognize her just by her name, even from Florida, California and so many other states. She was loyal to Medical Center Hospital and retired after 20 years of working there. The other hospitals across the USA certainly did try.

Kathy is survived by her only child, Alex Faubion; granddaughter, Alexandria Faubion and her brother, John Peter Claybrook.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. To send family condolences please sign her guestbook at www.sunsetodessa.com.
