Kathy Shirley

Kathy Diane Horton Shirley, age 64, of Midland passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at her home in Midland after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 68 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2014 at Northside Baptist Church in Odessa with Reverend Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Kathy was born on October 2, 1949 in Overton, TX. to Thomas Doyle Horton Sr. and Roberta Vivian Horton Dalton. Kathy and her family moved to Odessa, TX. in 1961. She graduated from Permian High School in 1968. She married Kendall Shirley on August 21, 1970. Although Kathy did have several jobs outside the home over the years, she preferred staying at home being a wife, mother and eventually the best Mimi ever. Kathy lived in Odessa for the majority of her life but moved to Midland in 2011 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Roberta Horton.

Kathy is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 44 years, Kendall Shirley, her two daughters, Lori and husband Andrew Becker of Midland, Kristi and husband Albert Seybert of Odessa, step daughter, Kim DeMoss of Tulsa, Oklahoma, brother, Thomas Tom Doyle Horton Jr., sister, Sandra Hubbard of Buda, Texas, grandchildren, Adam and Aidan Becker, Davis and Griffin Seybert, Crystal Nolan and Jon Derrick and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be as follows: Andrew Becker, Albert Seybert, Adam Becker, Jon Derrick, Scott Horton and Chad Brock.
