Kelcey Denise Elkins, 20, of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Brownfield, TX was called home by God to enter into His arms as His Newest Angel on Friday evening, January 25, 2013, after a tragic accident. Kelcey was received with open arms by His Army of Angels, and introduced to her eternal home where she will await with patience for her loved ones to join her in due time.
Kelcey was born on February 19, 1992 in Lubbock, TX to Chris and Sheri Elkins. The middle child of three, she was the shining light of peace that kept everyone smiling and laughing.
She graduated from Brownfield High School in May 2010, and soon embarked upon her venture of pursuing her college dreams at South Plains College. Kelceys infectious smile, bright eyes, and positive outlook on life made her a magnet of many loving friends.
Whether it was her teammates from BHS Tennis, or fellow members of the First United Methodist Church Youth Group, she always made a positive contribution for those around her. Her bubbly personality rendered a great desire to be in her presence, and when she walked into a room, she was like a package of dynamite in a dark room, she lit it up.
Kelcey was an awesome cook that enjoyed pleasing others before herself. A Best Friend to many, she was also a confidant to the many who trusted her. She was an amazing dancer who loved music, and that music was always in her presence. Kelcey was The Aunt everyone warned you about. Her niece was a true highlight in her life, and she loved to spoil her.
She never backed away from work, as her parents taught her that good work ethics was the key to success. She worked with her Dad at Clint Williams Company, and was well known for her ability to assist customers at Boot City while attending SPC.
Kelcey joined those in Heaven that preceded her and immediately began a homecoming celebration. Those loved ones included her grandfather, Billy Austin.
Left to honor and cherish her loving memories are her parents, Chris and Sheri Elkins of Brownfield, TX sisters, Heather Flippin and husband Chris of Lubbock, TX and Katlin Elkins of Brownfield, TX her coveted niece, RhoRho Flippin grandparents, Gerald and Pat Elkins and Mary Austin, all of Olton, TX numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of many loving friends who will all miss her forever. She also leaves behind her boyfriend, Jacob Duncan of Lubbock, TX.
A time of visitation and reflection upon Kelceys life and accomplishments will be held from 5 9 PM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock, TX.
A celebration of her precious life will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Brownfield, TX with Dr. Carl Moman and Beverly Titus officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery immediately following, with Dr. Ken Horn offering the committal.
In honoring what Kelcey would want, the family has asked that funeral dress be boots and jeans or Texas Country Casual.
With so many Earthly Angels coming to the aid of Kelceys family in such a time of darkness, they all would like to extend a word of heartfelt gratitude to each and every one who has called, stopped by, offered assistance, and last but certainly not least, those who have lifted them up in prayer.
One never knows the abundance of loving, caring friends, until each and every one show up at your doorstep in such a time of need.
