Kenneth Krug

Kenneth Steven Krug, 63, left this life on April 16, 2018 in Odessa, TX.

Ken was born in Staten Island, NY to Andrew and Charlotte Krug. He moved to Jacksonville, FL with his parents in 1971, relocating with them again in 1974 to Gretna, LA, a suburb of New Orleans. Ken thought he was destined to live his life by himself until he met the love of his life, Elwin Gere. They were married in 2003 and moved to Odessa, TX in 2008 where they shared their happy lives together until his passing.

Ken attended Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island and graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville. He also attended Jacksonville University, University of North Florida and University of New Orleans, majoring in political science which was his passion throughout his life. While attending college in Jacksonville, Ken worked at Towers Hardware and was able to use his experience there when he moved to the New Orleans area at Temento's Hardware and as sporting goods manager for Barkers Department Store. He started his career in computer programming, developing programming to convert computer systems for oil field service company H.B."Buster" Hughes Inc. in Belle Chasse, LA. Ken attended IBM's guided learning center, becoming a self-taught computer programmer, and was hired by liquor distributor Magnolia Marketing (later Republic Beverage) as assistant information technology manager, later becoming I.T. manager and working for them for 26 years. With his move to Odessa in 2008, Ken worked as programmer for Budweiser distributor Standard Sales Company.

Ken loved following politics and loved all things involving space technology. Ken enjoyed attending RockHounds and Jackalopes games, Midland Community Theater, going to the movies, eating out, road trips and the Black Hills in South Dakota where Ken and Elwin had planned to retire.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Elwin; his sister Andrea Krug and her daughter Kimberly (Steven) Fluharty and their sons Nicholas (fiancée Macy Mouton) and Joshua all of New Orleans; sister Pamela (Rodney) Birdwell and son Rodney Keith Jr. (Ashley) Birdwell, their daughters Izzy and Morrigan; son Richard (fiancée Maggie Flores) , their daughter Zooey and son Lucas; and daughter Karen (Leif) Olsen and their son Connor all of Jacksonville, FL and numerous other members of the Birdwell family, special to Ken; stepson Matthew Snethen of Lamoni, IA; sisters-in-law Shelda Hill and Avis (Elmer) Miler of Leon, IA, Velma (John) Wengryn of Pleasanton, IA and brother-in-law Darwin Gere of VanWert, IA and a host of nieces and nephews in Elwin's family who loved Ken dearly; and many other friends special to Ken.

Due to family and friends in multiple states, private memorial gatherings will be held at later dates in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and Iowa.
