L. June Sawyer

June Sawyer, of Odessa, passed away Saturday November 30, 2024, in Odessa Texas.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

June was born in Shamrock, Texas to Robert and Faye Griffin, June 23, 1941. She graduated from Shamrock High School. She worked her entire life as a phone operator. She was a loyal employee and retired after 34 years with Basin Communications, 

Grandmas favorite pastimes were watching her granddaughters play soccer, a good card game, puzzles and reading. She loved watching game shows and despised any interruption to her daily watching of “Wheel of Fortune.” She loved big, especially her grandchildren and her dogs. 

June was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby; son-in-law, Albert Ureta; granddaughter, Amanda Ureta; siblings, Modene Scott, Anne Grimes and Bobby Griffin. 

June is survived by her children, Terry Thomas and wife Stephanie of San Angelo, Russ Sawyer of Odessa and Kim Ureta of Odessa. Sisters, Cleta Van Meter and Nita Hickman of McAdoo, Texas. Grandchildren, Miranda Ureta of Odessa and Zachary Thomas of Chapparal, New Mexico. Great grandchildren, Hunter and Layla Thomas of Chapparal, New Mexico.
