Diane Eckel, age 55, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on October 15, 2018.
A visitation and gathering of friends for a final viewing will be from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday, October 19, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, October 20, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Diane Eckel was born in Kermit, Texas to Bobby and Helen Gotcher on August 5, 1963. After a short period her parents moved the family to Houston, Texas until the family moved back to Odessa, Texas in 1980. Diane graduated from Permian High School and attended Odessa College. She was a loving wife and married Terry Lee Eckel on December 30, 1981 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Diane was employed by Eckel Manufacturing Co. Inc. where she was part owner with her husband.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Helen Gotcher of Odessa and grandparents, Travis and Mozelle Gotcher of Kermit and Don and Louise Bartlett of Odessa.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Lee Eckel, two sons, Justin Garrett Eckel and Jeremy Lee Eckel, one daughter, Brittney Alexis Presnall and son in law, Chad Presnall, stepson, Sean Eckel and six grandchildren, Braydon Eckel, Landon Presnall, Jaxon Presnall, Austin Eckel with wife, Raven, Garrett Eckel, and Brooke Eckel with her mother in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was always known to her grandkids as Nana. She is also survived by a sister, Cindy Smith and brother in law, Ken Smith and three nieces, Ashley Brown and husband, Thomas Brown (daughters McKenna and Maxwell), Whitney Smith, and Haley Smith. Diane also has a brother, Robert Gotcher and sister in law, Vickie Gotcher as well as two nieces, Jennifer Stone and husband, Stefen Stone (daughter Layla), Jordan Gotcher (son Vincent) as well as a nephew, Joshua Gotcher and wife, Stephanie Gotcher (daughters Caroline and Emily). Both her sister's family and her brother's family live in Midland, Texas.
Diane was well known and loved by her family and all who knew her to be a compassionate and caring person willing to do anything to help others. In the early stages of raising her children, she was well known for looking out for the other neighborhood kids when their parents could not be home due to work schedules. Diane loved taking care of her family and preparing large meals that everyone enjoyed. She truly had a servant's heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be, Cody Eckel, Brayden Eckel, Richard Wright, Stefen Stone, Thomas Brown and James Redic.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
