Larry Jones

Larry Boyd Jones, age 54, of Midland, was called home on Friday, February 15, 2013 in Plano, Texas.

Larry was born October 17, 1958 in Odessa, Texas to James Henry Jones and Dortha Louise McCaskill Jones. He attended and graduated from Sonora High School in 1977, where he excelled in many sports including Track and Field and Football. Larry worked for over 30 years in the oilfields of West Texas. He ended his career with Endeavor Energy in Midland, Texas where he served as manager for over 10 years with Jones Wireline.

Larry loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting and grilling. Quiet often, he could be found out on the golf course working on his game or playing in tournaments. He was passionate about vintage cars and loved riding one of the many Harley Davidson motorcycles he owned over the years. Larry had a smile and personality that lit up any room. He never met a stranger and had a heart the size of Texas.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Jim Jones.

He is survived by his mother, Dortha Jones of Odessa his daughter, Jade Jones of Midland his twin brother, Garry Jones of Odessa his sister, Linda Wilson of Odessa, his sister, Letha White and husband Steve, of Odessa and friend, Karen Wheat of Midland. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, March 1, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor, Dr. Jimmy Braswell, of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Odessa, Texas, officiating. The family asks that attendees feel free to dress in casual attire.

A private internment was held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Texas.

The family also asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Kidds Kids Foundation. Kidds Kids is a nonprofit foundation that sends approximately 50 chronically ill children along with their entire families to Disney World every year. Larry always loved Disney World and believed that everyone should have the opportunity to experience its magic
