Larry Lain passed from this life on 07192009. He was surrounded by loved ones and left this world with a smile on his face and a wink of his eye. He was born in Crane, Texas on July 10, 1949 to Betty and Leland Lain. Larry lived all his life in Odessa, but his heart longed for Mexico. He is survived by his parents, Leland and Betty Lain; two sons, Doug Lain of Odessa, Travis Lain and wife Karen of George West; their mother and wonderful friend, Becky Lain; sister Nancy Campbell and husband Jon; three grandsons, Garret, Gabriel, and Gavin; niece Amanda Campbell, and nephew David Campbell and wife, Katherine.
Larry achieved worldwide recognition with his knowledge of various pressure relief valve and high-pressure test equipment. In 1970 he helped establish ML Valve Company Inc with his father and grandfather, Claude Miller. From 1988 to 2008, he was owner and president of Energy Equipment Inc. in Odessa, Texas with a branch office in Mineral Wells. Through his business contacts, Larry developed friendships across the world. His knowledge of pressure equipment has been recognized by many engineering organizations. In 1985 he was asked by then Gov. Mark White to serve on the state board for rules and regulations of pressure relief valve repair.
A memorial service will be held at Sherwood Church of Christ on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. with Mark Wilson officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House in Odessa for their care and concern for Larry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Hospice House or to Odessa Christian School.
