Larry Myers

Larry Allison Myers, 72, of Odessa, TX, passed away on October 6, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on October 16, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church of Odessa with Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating. Sunset Memorial Gardens is handling the arrangements.

Larry was born in Dallas, TX to Nelson and Ruth Myers on March 23, 1949. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy. He received his MBA from UTPB and worked as a Probation Officer for Ector County CSCD for 28 years. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in establishing the Family Promise organization of Odessa. He was a champion for women and children and had a great love for helping people in need. He enjoyed listening to music, playing, and winning at poker, reading science fiction and

fantasy books, writing stories and poems, and spending time with his family.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Nelson Myers, his brother Jerry Myers, and his sister Phyllis Easley.

Larry is survived by his wife Diane Myers, and his children Jennifer Myers and Courtney and Kenneth Hawley. He has five grandchildren: Elisabeth and Gunnar Hirst, Emma Myers, Evie Hawley and Maverick Hawley and many honorary children and grandchildren whom he loved. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Randy and Beverly Myers, and Brenda and Deryl Briles. And he leaves behind dear friends Kara Evenson Dorethy, Michelle Moreira and Rhonda Tinney.

In lieu of flowers, Larry and his family request donations be made in his name at Family Promise of Odessa. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to Home Hospice of Odessa, Dr. Madhu, and our church family of First Presbyterian Church of Odessa for the friendship and care they showed him as he finished his earthly journey.
