Lee O. Cadillac Smith, 98, of Odessa, Texas passed away at his residence on March 30, 2014.
Visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 4 with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home.
Lee Cadillac Smith was born in Lea County, New Mexico to Jess and Myrtle Smith on August 31, 1915. He married Birdie Owens on March 17, 1937 in Big Spring, Texas. He worked as a ranch hand and Cadillac and Birdie moved to Odessa in 1946 and opened Eastside Grocery Store for several years. Cadillac then traveled following union iron work. He and Birdie joined Ector County Sheriffs Posse traveling and riding in many locations and parades. He then went to work as a mechanic for Porter Ernest Motor Company. Upon leaving this job, he worked as a ranch hand for Marvin Key in Scurry County for 22 years until his retirement.
Cadillac is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, his wife, Birdie, and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his son, Billy and wife, Cheree of Midland, daughter, Sissie McClure and husband, Bob, of Odessa, grandchildren Rhonda Krogh, Billy Smith Jr, and Kayla Silvia of Odessa, Ronnie Richardson of Mansfield, and Jessica and Travis Smith of Midland, fourteen greatgrandchildren, and nine greatgreatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Smith Jr, Ronnie Richardson, Travis Smith, Colby Smith, Tyler Smith, Bryton Richardson, and Leighton Silvia.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend thanks to Cadillacs long time physician, Dr. Weldon Butler and Meals on Wheels of Odessa.
