Jr was raised as an only child, born in Graham, Texas to Lem T. Bennett and Willie Mae (Smothers) on August 4, 1946. He grew up in Bryson, Texas working side by side with his father from the young age of 12 and graduated from Bryson High School in 1964. He then attended Cisco Junior College from 1965 - 1967 studying Agriculture and Mathematics. He loved his family very much and was happiest when sharing time with them. Jr had a love for life that inspired everyone he met along with an amazing laugh and smile that was absolutely contagious. He truly enjoyed seeing a smile on everyone's face around him, and would do whatever it took to make sure he contributed to that smile. While he was most comfortable in a pair of coveralls and his steel toe boots, he loved to dress to impress often saying he was his favorite singer, George Strait's better looking twin brother.

He began his career working for Halliburton in 1968 where he started as a Cementer and after years of hard work and dedication was promoted through the ranks to Field Superintendent. He ended his career as an Independent Well Site Consultant. He took extreme pride in his work, had an outstanding memory and was a math genius. He enjoyed passing on his knowledge to anyone willing to learn and made friends with anyone he came in contact with, and he wasn't ever afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger. He was also proud to be a 32nd degree Mason.

He is preceded in death by his parents and half-sister, Virginia Doreen Bennett. He is survived by his four children, Kevin Bennett, wife Stepheny; Judson Bennett, wife Angela; Kristin Bennett, boyfriend Andy Rolls, and Megan Bennett; Grandchildren: Brendan, Bryson, Brielee, Chloe, and Alyssa; Great Granddaughters: Ella and Sophia; Cousin Dean Smith; Friends of his children that he loved as his own: Vanessa Hartman, Brian Rushing, Jenny Howell, Bubba Flores, Dee King, Tim and Vallie Mccallum and Rachel and Skyler Smith.
