Lenora L. Preston, age 81, formerly of Odessa and Anchorage, Alaska passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Hospice House in Burleson, Texas.
She was born June 12, 1928 in Evanston, Indiana to Robert V. and Annie Latch Rendall. She was a school teacher at Milam and Alamo Elementary schools from 1962 until 1973. She and her husband Paul Preston moved to Alaska in 1973 to operate McKinley View Lodge. They later operated a home in Anchorage for disabled children for several years and from about 1985 until she retired she owned a fur manufacturing and retail shop also in Anchorage. After retiring she volunteered as the Director of the Alaska Arthritis Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1977 and by her son Billy Ervin in 1975.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Maxwell and husband Dwight of Cleburne son, Gerald Ervin and wife Judy of Odessa grandson, Delton Maxwell granddaughter, Gayla Baker and husband Guy of Cleburne great grandchildren, Billy and Breanna of Joshua and Payton Cox of Cleburne brother, Rudy Rendall and wife Pat of Midland sister, Mary Jane Little and husband Bobby of Eastland sister, Judy Hall and husband Randy of Cleburne and numerous extended family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
