Leon H. Reeves, age 97, died peacefully at home on April 9, 2015.
Leon was born on December 4, 1917 in Alba, TX. He served four years in the Air Force during World War II. His military post brought him to Pampa, TX. Walking downtown one day, he looked into a Zales Jewelry store and saw his future bride, Jean Jordan. They were married that year and on March 1, 2015 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Leon and Jean moved many times before settling in Odessa in 1954. They raised their family here and ran a Real Estate and Home Building Corporation until Leon retired in 1985.
Leon loved the outdoors. Even in his final years, he spent part of each day tending to his flowers and garden. He and Jean traveled extensively from Boston to South Padre Island to Vancouver and Hawaii to the Caribbean. But he loved fishing in Colorado the most and they spent their last years of traveling to Priest Gulch, CO. His last trip was when he was 90 years young.
Leon loved the Lord and was a very compassionate, loving and giving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by his family, but he is tending God's garden now. Can't wait to see that!
Leon is preceded in death by his son, Cary Reeves Sr. and grandson, Michael York.
He is survived by his beautiful bride, Jean; daughters, Shana McGill and husband Richard, Jo Anne Holcomb and husband Johnny; daughter-in-law, Kay Morton Reeves; grandson, Cary Reeves, Jr. and wife Trish; granddaughters, Kelsi Reeves, SheaLynn McGill, Jaybe McGill, Melisa Weaver and husband Todd; 6 great grandchildren, Jayson and Jayden, Jakob and Olivia, Gabriel and Marie; one great-great granddaughter and one sister, Neely Jo Reeves.
Jean would like to thank the family who has helped care for Leon in the final months, and to Home Hospice.
