Leonard Vallie Gandy, 90, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 27 in Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday May 12th, 2017 at Odessa Christian Faith Center.
Leonard was born in Meridian, Texas to Vallie and Ora Mae Gandy on October 20, 1926. In 1945, he was drafted by the United States Army and served in WWII on the islands of Saipan and Tinian in the Pacific theater. Leonard married Geneva Beth Winder on January, 10 1951 in Morton, Texas. He owned and farmed land in Cochran County for most of his life where he also raised and raced quarter horses that held records at both Lubbock and Midland Downs. Leonard also worked as a oil field equipment mechanic at Tillery & Parks in Odessa, Texas until he was 90 years old.
Leonard is preceded in death by his wife Beth Gandy, his parents, his sisters Chloris Tarlton and Geraldine Hemdon, and his brothers J.C. Gandy and Billy Gandy.
Leonard is survived by his son Len Gandy, his sisters Betty Hodges, Wilma Hill, and Merle Wilson, his brother Don Gandy and his grandson Jake Gandy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
