Leonard Carlton Corky Stribling, 75, of Odessa, Texas, passed away March 18, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.
Corky was born September 3, 1934 to Leonard and Mildred Stribling in White Flat, Texas. He was raised in Trent, Texas, graduated from Trent High School and later attended Texas Tech University. He went to work for Texas Electric in 1952 as a Lineman, and retired as a Crew Foreman in 1992. He married Morene, his wife of 56 years, on September 16, 1953.
Corky was a member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School during the 1960s. He loved hunting, fishing, and golf, and he especially had a passion for MOJO football. He was always an enthusiastic Permian football fan, and missed very few games. He collected the game programs from the 1960s to the current season. He could tell you the players names, where the players later attended college, and all of the plays from every winning score from every playoff game.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 21 from 68 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Thad Chambers Officiating. Pallbearers for Mr. Stribling include Tyler Stribling, Trevor Stribling, Beau Stribling, Jerry Roberson, Bill Howard, Jordan Skaggs, and Trey Rutherford.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Morene Stribling, of Odessa, Texas his children Tully Stribling and his wife Shannon, Koy Stribling and his wife Cheryl, and Stephanie Stribling of Odessa, Texas his grandchildren Brandi Stribling, Beau Stribling, Tyler Stribling and his wife Kara, Trevor Stribling, Natalie Stribling, and Callie Stribling and greatgrandchildren Leah Stribling, Keller Stribling, and Presley Stribling.
