Leonora Morgan Jones

Leonora Morgan Jones was born in Allen, OK, on May 9, 1933, and died at home on December 2, 2023.

She married and moved from Odessa to Hibbing, MN. In 1964 she divorced and moved back to Odessa, TX.

Leonora is preceded in death by her father, Henry Morgan Tipton; mother, Allie Elizabeth Tipton; sister, Polly Cowin.

She is survived by her daughter, Roberta “Robbie” Jones;4 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews; 20 great-great nieces and nephews; 7 great-great-great nieces and nephews. She loved them like they were grandchildren. She baby sat nearly every one of them.

Leonora worked as a bookkeeper for the City Hall of Odessa, TX, for 20 years and her niece for 10 years. She graduated from Odessa High School, attended Odessa College and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and was one semester away from her bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Leonora went to an Assembly of God Church all her life. Her last church was Bethel Assembly of God, officiated by John Van Hoose, whom she supported and loved very much. She was always involved in many church functions. At 15 she began teaching Sunday school. She also taught children in church. She fried pies, cooked pecan pies, served countless meals and was a church secretary for 60 years. Leonoras Christian light shined so bright, she must have led 100’s of children and parents to the Lord. Teaching children about God was her passion.
