Leslie Smith

September 12, 1944 — September 4, 2018

Leslie Lawrence Smith-best known simply as "Les" to the ever-expanding list of acquaintances and friends upon whom he never failed to make a strong impression-passed away in Temple, Texas on September 4th, 2018.

Leslie was born in Odessa on September 11, 1944 to W.J. "Buddy" Smith and Lucille Smith. He graduated from Ector High School in 1963 and married his lifelong sweetheart the same year. Leslie was a devoted Christian, faithful husband, loving father, tireless entrepreneur, stellar baseball player, passionate Dallas Cowboys fan-and probably most importantly to him-the best "grandpa" the world has ever seen. He is now reunited with a beloved son, Randy.

Leslie is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Gail Smith; son, Ricky Smith and wife Colleen; grandsons, Collin and Luke Smith; granddaughters, Rachael and Alexis, and a whole host of nieces, nephews and in-laws whom he loved dearly. Thank you for a life well-lived, Les.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 7, 2018 at Ector County Cemetery in Odessa with Reverend Clydel Chapman officiating.
