Lester Harper

Lester E. Harper Bud passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 in Odessa.

He was born August 1, 1926 in Maranda City, Texas to Mary Magdeline Heardt Harper and Jessie Ray Harper. He married Betty Joyce McKinney June 15, 1946. They moved to Odessa in 1952, where he worked for Saber Tool Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Virgil Lee Harper, a sister, Stella Mae Reddick and a grandson, Capt. Lyle L. Gordon.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Joyce McKinney Harper of Odessa; daughter, Mary Joyce Harper Gordon and husband Dickey R. Gordon of Midlothian, Texas; son, Jessie Earl Harper and wife Pat Harper of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Bobbi Ann Wimberly of Keller, Texas; grandson, Boyd G. Gordon and wife Mendy Gordon of Mansfield, Texas; granddaughters, Bobbi Sue Harper Cates and husband Ron Cates of Odessa and Kiva Deon Wimberly Hanes and husband Joe Hanes of Salina, Kansas; and nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Gaylan Douglas officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickey Gordon, Boyd Gordon, Ron Cates, G.W. Douglas and Joe Croff.
