Linda Kay Rhea of Odessa, TX passed away on January 16, 2025, in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell will be officiating.
Linda was born in Elk City, OK to Cecil and Jessie Mae Dye on August 4, 1950. She married Chuck Rhea on November 19, 1969, and started their legacy of love.
Linda’s life was known through her love of her family and her animals. There was not a moment when she didn’t have either a horse, dogs, or many of both in her care. She passed that love of animals onto several of her children and grandchildren who will carry those memories of her and her fur babies with them forever.
Linda was the heart and glue of her family. Many nights were spent drinking coffee and playing card games at her kitchen table. Spoons was a favorite, but you knew to be careful to sit next to Nonna or you might finish with an accidental injury or two.
She loved hard. You always knew where you stood with her. Right or wrong, she would love you through it. You were going to get an extensive scolding but in the end, you knew she would love you regardless. She was the toughest woman you would ever meet but had the biggest heart. To know her was to love her but also knew she was a force to be reckoned with. She was not one to back down easily, especially when it came to her family. All of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her warm smile and loving hugs and knew with all of their hearts that she would go to the ends of the earth for each and every one of them.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Rhea; daughter, Kelcey Rhea; and grandson, Michael Rhea.
Linda is survived by her children; daughters, Dana Mahan of Odessa, Tx, Stephanie Rhea of Odessa, Tx; and son, James Rhea and wife Kimberly Rhea of Andrews, Tx; grandchildren, Daman Pinson and wife Monica, Chris Pinson and wife Jessie, Amber Martin and husband Jeremy, Brandon Rhea and wife Kimmie, Amy Martin and husband Landon, Zade Roy and husband Brandon, and Zaryan Rhea; great grandchildren, Madison, Caiden, Brennan, Ryan, Liam, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Lydia, Charleigh, Bentley, Sophia, Jayte, Wyatt, Kaislynn, Archer, Tynsleigh, Ryder, Colt, Wrenley, Knox and Brooks; and great-great grandchildren, Holden and Bridger.
