Linda Lou Schulz, 68, of Odessa, Texas, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on March 18, 2021 in Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 22, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Linda was born December 27, 1952 in Monahans, Texas, to Evelyn and Claudell “Bud” Wheeler. Growing up in Grandfalls, Texas, Linda was an exceptional student and athlete. Later in life, Linda returned to Grandfalls where she worked in the school district before moving to Monahans where she was the Business Manager for the Monahans-Wickett-Pyote Independent School District until her retirement.
Linda’s life is best defined by the family she leaves behind. Linda is survived by her husband Mark Schulz of Odessa, children Byron and Janet Cox of McKinney, Melanie and Joseph Gutierrez of San Antonio, and Heather and Cosme Ortega of Odessa. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Katelyn, Kamryn, Carolyn, Allyson, Meagan, Morgan, and Kasen, and her sister, Nan and Jim Yancey of Granbury.
“Noni,” as she was affectionately known to her grandchildren, was a shining example of how to be kind and loving to everyone. Family always came first and was above all else, a value she instilled in all those around her. She welcomed everyone into her home and kitchen. Noni loved to cook for her family and knew everyone’s favorite dish. Her grandchildren looked forward every year to her legendary Christmas candy.
Though Linda’s health had been failing for several years since her cancer diagnosis, her joy for life and the love she had for her family kept her going. It’s certainly not fair to say that Linda lost her battle with cancer, because she fought it as hard as she could until the very end, never once giving up. Her courage and bravery in the face of her illness were always on display.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
