Lois Whitney

Lois Marie Whitney, 81, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Saturday, January 3, 2009 after a short illness.

Lois was born September 30 1927 in Seymour, TX to Vance and Myrtle McMurry. She was raised and attended school in Levelland, TX. She married Cecil Boggs and they moved to Odessa in 1956. In 1968, she married the love of her life. A.D. Whitney of Odessa. They were owners of Reliable Machine and Supply for many years.

Lois is survived by her son, Jimmy Boggs and wife Leslie of Midland, her daughter Shari McKay of Dallas, grandchildren, Brian McKay and Christine of Dallas, Scott McKay and wife Misty of Dallas; Michele Barrow and husband Brandon of Andrews, TX, Jason Boggs and wife Dusti of Odessa, Ashley Cox and husband Jefferson of Odessa; great grandchildren Sarah Crooks of Dallas, TX, Mason McKay of Dallas, Faith and Haden Barrow of Andrews, TX and Noah Cox of Odessa and a brother, Bobby McMurry of Levelland.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Vance and Myrtle McMurry, her husband A.D. Whitney, her brothers Wilburn and Howard McMurry and a great grandson, Christopher Foppiano.

Lois was also preceded in death by her dearest friend Barbara Jackson who was her traveling, skip bo and jelly-making partner who made Lois laugh just by hearing her voice. Life was never quite the same without her Barb.

Services will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday January 5 at 6:00 -7 P.M. Pallbearers will be Scott McKay, Brian McKay, Jason Boggs, Brandon Barrow, Jefferson Cox and Roy Harrison.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
