Lola Jean Heggemeier, age 90 of Odessa, TX, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Odessa.
Lola Jean was born July 25, 1927 to Vernon Archibald and Lena Elizabeth (Tannahill) Archibald. Jean married Bill E. Heggemeier on May 4, 1946. She and Bill were active in the United Methodist Church. They served many years as junior and senior high MYF counselors. In later years as a minister's wife, Jean supported Bill as he ministered to a number of Odessa area Methodist Churches. Lola Jean was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a past Parent Teachers Association president in Madison, KS. She was a YWCA counselor to young women in the Tri-Hi-Y organization. She was past president of the Texas Genealogical Society and a member of the Permian Basin Genealogical Society. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Lola Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Tannahill and Lena Muniger Lago, her husband, Rev. Bill Heggemeier, brothers, Donald Ray Tannahill, Gerald Alan Lago, Larry Lynn Lago, sister, Patricia Ann Bevan, sister in-law, Betty Kimberlin and grandson, Justin Heggemeier.
She is survived by her two sons, Brig. Gen. Terry Heggemeier and his wife, Cheryl of Barnum, NM and Atty. Ron Heggemeier and his wife, Maral of Petersburg, TX; Grandchildren, Jennifer Grafton of Broomfield, CO, Jessica Bogle and her husband, Lucus of Maple Grove, MN, Juliet Christensen and her husband, Dave of Poway, CA, and Jeffry Heggemeier and his wife Katie of Albuquerque, NM; brother, William Neil Lago and his wife, Barbara of Modesto, CA; sisters, Virginia Lee Bevan of Eldorado, KS, Mary Sue Choal of Reliance, SD, Rita Jo Voss of Henderson, NV and Donna Kay Hague and husband, Rodney of Peabody, KS; 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 19, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Odessa, TX, with Rev. Jody Wallin officiating. Interment will precede the funeral service at 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandsons Justin, Cody, Jack, Thomas, and Matthew Heggemeier.
